The procedures of signing the Cooperation Agreement between the Regional Fund of Attica and the University of Piraeus were completed, in teleconference.

Its object is the multi-level cooperation of the two sides through partnerships and synergies that will contribute to exploiting the competitive advantages and strengthening the development dynamics of the largest region of the country. Individual areas of cooperation will be, among others, the digital upgrade, strengthening of technological development, the adaptation to changes in the business and economic environment, targeted interconnection of university research and the labor market, island development and start-up entrepreneurship.
The Rector of Piraeus University Professor Angelos Kotios made the following statement: "Especially in difficult times such as today, the mission of the University cannot be entrenched only in the transmission of knowledge through research and teaching.
There also needs to be the basic component of society. We place the quality, efficiency and extroversion of our University at the service of the common interest. We are therefore joining forces with the Region of Attica and its Regional Fund in an ambitious collaboration that looks to the future, has a long-term horizon, invests in knowledge and utilizes applied research."

The Regional Governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis pointed out the following:
"We must now start thinking about the day after this unprecedented health crisis, but after we overcome it with the least possible loss of human lives. In this effort, to cover lost ground and soon return to a path of development and substantial recovery of the great economic cost, but also to better prepare against similar future threats to our society, we rely on the significant strengths of our region.
We collaborate with one of the most renowned university institutions in our country, which has great European and international recognition at the same time. The University of Piraeus will give us the valuable knowledge, the appropriate method and the most effective tools to support us or to jointly implement actions that will benefit those who live, are active professionally and in business, or visit our Region."
