The University of Piraeus and Dalian Maritime University, China, have agreed to a five-year renewal of their existing Memorandum of Cooperation.

With this renewal, both institutions affirm their decision to continue their highly constructive collaboration and coordination of actions in areas of mutual interest. The Memorandum was signed by the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michail Sfakianakis, and the Vice President of Dalian Maritime University, Professor Zeng Qingcheng. Also present was the Chairman of the Department of Maritime Studies, Professor Yiannis Theotokas.

The main goal of the Memorandum is the joint development of educational and research programs based on agreed objectives and outcomes, the exchange of students and academic staff, the pursuit of opportunities for applied research and academic cooperation in the maritime and port industries, and the creation of a joint research laboratory within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. The signing of the Memorandum took place on May 12, during the visit of the Dalian Maritime University delegation to the University of Piraeus.
