The unique exhibition "Chess as an Object of Art", organized for the first time in Greece by the "Lilian Voudouri" Library of the "Friends of Music" Association at Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, hosted the Chess Team of the University of Piraeus on Thursday, May 8, for a very special event.

Achilleas Zografos, musician, chess player and writer, and Gabriella Spanò, musicologist and library public services manager, who designed and curated the exhibition, welcomed the Chess Team of the University of Piraeus and Anna Maria Botsari, a top Greek chess player – grandmaître with world-class distinctions, in a tour of the world of the game, which sparked the imagination and highlighted the chess skills and abilities of all participants.

Chessboards and accessories from all over the world and from various eras with their specialized techniques, inspired by local tradition and art, made with unique materials, chessboards of incalculable value for their rarity, their age or the history that accompanies them as well as books on the sport, are exhibited in the serene environment of the "Lilian Voudouri" library of the "Friends of Music" Association.

This was followed by the simultanée match between the Chess Team of the University of Piraeus and the grandmaître Anna Maria Botsari, which ended with one victory and a draw for our University team.
