The rector of our University, Professor Michael Sfakianakis, and Professor Petros Maravelakis accompanied sixty postgraduate students from the Department of Business Administration to Miami Florida, conducting on-site visits to the Florida International University and the University of Miami.
A strong intention and constant pursuit of the University of Piraeus authorities remains the exploration and implementation of extroverted actions, within the framework of the internationalization of higher education, for the construction of a University for the future, so extroversion and international orientation constitute a strategic choice for us.
The University of Piraeus has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Florida International University, marking the beginning of an active and creative collaboration in areas such as research, education through the exchange of members of the academic community and students, the exploration and implementation of programs focused on business organization and management, etc. Florida International University, a public research university, is the 5th best public university in the U.S. with 55,000 students in all fields of study, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. FIU offers more than 190 degree programs and many of them have ranked among the best in the US for their academic excellence. FIU is the No. 1 ranked public university in student experience and No. 3 overall. 
An agreement/collaboration with the University of Miami, a leading research university with more than 20,000 students of all degrees, will follow. Established in 1925, UM now comprises 12 schools and colleges serving undergraduate and graduate students in nearly 350 majors and programs. With more than $456 million in research and sponsored program expenditures annually, the University of Miami is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).
