A meeting to initiate cooperation between the University of Piraeus and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) of Beijing, took place at the University of Piraeus between the Rector Angelos Kotios and Professor Huang Ping, Director General of the Institute of European Studies of CASS for the establishment of the only one in Greece "Centre of China Studies", with the cooperation of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation of Piraeus.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) is a comprehensive national academic research organization studying fields of philosophy and social sciences and considered to be the largest “Think Tank in China”, with more than 35 research centers and 3.200 resident scholars.

According to Rector Angelo Kotios, developing collaborations with Chinese universities (there is already a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Piraeus and the Academy of Social Sciences of Shanghai) will highlight Piraeus as a scientific bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Professors Pantelis Pantelidis Vice Rector for Academic, Administrative and Student Affairs, Athanasios Platias of the Department of International and European Studies and Dr. Christina Kontogoulidou Head of the Office of International Relations and European Programs
