A two-year memorandum of cooperation was signed today on the 8th of March 2021 by the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science of the University of Piraeus and the Association of Hellenic Actuaries (EAE), to establish cooperation in areas of common interest, which, among others, concern education and lifelong learning, student internships, the transfer of know-how, the utilization of science and research in Insurance matters, joint participation in research projects, etc.

For the implementation of the MOU between the University of Piraeus and the EAE, the two sides designate as Coordinators, from the EAE its President Mr. Vassilis Angelou, and from the University of Piraeus the Associate Professor and President of the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science Sotirios Bersimis. The Coordinators will act as representatives of the collaborating entities and assume responsibility for the overall management, representation and communication of the memorandum and its actions to third parties.
Depending on the action, working groups composed of representatives of the EAE and faculty members of the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science, of the University of PIRAEUS, will be formed, who will undertake the planning and implementation of each action that will be jointly decided.

The Rector of the University of Piraeus Professor, Angelos Kotios, stated that the cooperation with the Union of Hellenic Actuaries (EAE) is very important, because it strengthens the extroversion of the Foundation at the national and international level and connects education with the productive forces.

The President of the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science, University of Piraeus, Associate Professor, Sotirios Bersimis, commenting on the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Association of Hellenic Actuaries(EAE) said: "The Department of Statistics and Insurance Science remains faithful to its strategy of extroversion and expanded cooperation with the Insurance industry, having as main goals the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the interconnection of its students with the labor market.
With this synergy, our students gain significant benefits for their professional success. At the same time, this specific collaboration can contribute to the goals of the Insurance industry, especially today when the constantly evolving business environment requires the making of informed decisions after the in-depth utilization of data, with the correct methodological use of data analysis and statistical machine learning ».

The president of EAE, Mr. Vassilis Angelou, referring to the Memorandum of Cooperation, said: The Association of Hellenic Actuaries, being a purely scientific, non-profit organization that aims to promote Actuarial Science in our country, welcome today with great joy the start of of cooperation with UNIPI, an action that is part of the association's extroversion, especially with the scientific community.
