An umbrella agreement was signed between the University of Piraeus and the Athens-Makedonian news agency in a meeting between the Rector of the University of Piraeus and professor of the Department of International and European Studies Angelos Kotios and the president of APE-MPE Michalis Psilos.

Michalis Psilos announced the establishment of a journalism school for the graduates of the university journalism schools stressing that its goal is to understand in depth and practically what it means to be a journalist. Each year approximately one hundred graduates of the three universities will be trained in collaboration with the Labor force employment agency, which will cover the costs.
On the part of the University, Mr. Kotios stated that the main aim of the University of Piraeus, being a university in the country's largest port that is developing into a serious gateway to Europe, is on the one hand to follow the path of internationalization and external collaborations, but also to be an intertwined within the society, which develops and keeps pace with the people - the greengrocer, the grocer, the shipowner.
In this context, the participation of the University is through the Lifelong Learning Center (KEDIVIM) in this education and training program with many specialized programs, which can be used for the professional career of the participants.
The University of Piraeus is a "university of services", as it produces potential in major sectors of the country such as tourism, shipping, industry, new telecommunications and IT technologies, the financial sector, sectors that provide 75% of the GDP and of employment.
