A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Regional Governor of Attica, Rena Dourou and the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Angelos Kotios.

The signing was attended by the Deputy Governor of the Northern Sector of Athens, George Karameros, the Deputy Governor of Piraeus, George Gavrilis, the Vice-Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Pantelis Pantelidis and the former Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Nikos Georgopoulos.
The collaboration with the University of Piraeus is expected to contribute to the utilization of research results and the high level of expertise that the University has in production processes.
With the aim of the immediate activation of the Memorandum, the two parties announced the initiative to create a Liaison Office (DG) of the Regional Unit of the Northern Sector of Athens which will assist in the networking of human resources with employment promotion structures and mainly local businesses, utilizing the Development Directorate that operates in the facilities of the Northern Sector of Athens and has a valuable relevant database.
In the same context, the two bodies decided to create a coherent cooperation framework with the object, among others:
• The co-organization of educational seminars, scientific days, conferences, thematic discussion groups / working groups, thematic events, symposia, etc., on issues of common research interest.

• Participation in lifelong learning seminars, e-learning programs, scientific meetings, educational activities.
• Taking initiatives for the development and organization of actions related to the joint submission of European and research programs in scientific fields of common scientific interest.
• Cooperation - networking between research laboratories, groups, services and joint utilization of existing infrastructure and know-how.

For the Attica Region, the creation of decent jobs is a key pillar of support for the regional and national economy.
