The Department of Statistics & Insurance Science of the University of Piraeus and the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies inaugurated the beginning of their cooperation in areas of common interest with the signing of a 5-year memorandum.
The cooperation of the two parties concerns, among others, the internship of the students of the Department of Statistics & Insurance Science, the bidirectional transfer of know-how, the utilization of science and research to promote applications in Insurance. The joint conduct of research and studies and the joint participation in research projects will promote education and lifelong learning as well as the training of human resources of the two parties.
On the occasion of the signing of the Memorandum, the Rector of UniPi, Professor Angelos Kotios, expressed his satisfaction for this extremely important collaboration, which strengthens the extroversion of the university, contributes to the diffusion of knowledge, connects education with the productive forces of society and strengthens the research work produced.
On behalf of the Association, Mr. Alexandros Sarigeorgiou, Chairman of the Board commented: "Today we are launching the collaboration with the Department of Statistics & Insurance Science of UniPi, a department with a high academic level and direct relevance to insurance. We believe in the connection and cooperation of the insurance market with the academic world and we look forward to a close and mutually beneficial relationship that will promote our common educational goals. "
The President of the Department of Statistics & Insurance Science, Associate Professor Mr. Sotirios Bersimis, noted that in an era where the world is changing faster than ever, through the signing of this memorandum, we strengthen the professional connection of our students with the market. At the same time, the creative synergy of the academic community and entrepreneurship as expressed through private insurance organizations is a challenge for the Department and contributes to the fulfillment of its mission to disseminate applied knowledge in society aiming for progress and prosperity.
