“Kerykes” the Volunteer Group of the University of Piraeus and the “u can come too!” Volunteer Action Group joined forces in a special Carnival action of giving and love. .

The goal was to bring smiles and Carnival closer to children hosted in child protection structures (Attica Child Protection Center “The Mother” and Penteli Child Protection Unit).
We collected carnival costumes, streamers, masks and various decorations and delivered them to the facilities, turning Carnival into a celebration of solidarity and giving. A guided tour of the “Penteli” facilities was held, where we were informed by the Director of the “Mother” and “Pentelis” Units, Spyros Karagounis, about their operation and the difficulties they face.
As were told the children's greatest need was entertainment and human interaction, so we committed to implementing entertainment activities with the assistance of our University's theater and music groups, during our next visits.
The Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michael Sfakianakis, emphasized that the University of Piraeus, as part of its educational process, integrates, with respect, love and consistency, every action that aims to support and upgrade the society in which it operates, embracing and supporting partnerships such as this one. Our effort is not only to provide our students with knowledge but also to cultivate in them the concepts of respect, responsibility, empathy, justice, solidarity, virtues that lead society towards a better tomorrow!
