The competition in Greece was organized by the Hellenic Union CFA Society Greece and was held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Electra Palace Hotel in Athens.
The team from the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus emerged as the 1st place winner, at national level among the student teams that participated from seven Greek H.E.I.s. This award makes it qualified to represent Greece, in the next phase of the competition at regional level (between countries of the region), which will be held on April 2, 2024.
The group of 4-year undergraduate students of the Department consists, in alphabetical order, of: Spyros Graikiotis, Zisis Yiannis, Metaxas Marios, Petri Konstantinos and Stathopoulos Konstantinos, with academic advisor the Deputy Professor of the Department Mr. Dimitrios Kyriazis and industry advisor Mr. Christos Psillias (CFA Charterholder, Ernst & Young, Transactions Department). We congratulate them all on their success.
This result of the student group highlights the exceptional level of training of our students as well as their degree of preparedness, multiplying the opportunities that arise for a professional career in the financial industry.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global University competition in "Company and Equity Analysis", organized by the CFA Institute in collaboration with local CFA associations, with the aim of analyzing a listed company in the same way that it is approached by professional analysts .
Eight teams from the following Universities participated in the Greek Competition this year:
• Athens University of Economics and Business
• University of Macedonia
• National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
• University of Piraeus (with two groups from different Departments)
• University of West Attica
• University of Peloponnese

The student teams delivered to expert raters an analysis, concerning the company "Cenergy Holdings", with a recommendation to buy, sell or hold its stock, while they also carried out a detailed presentation of their proposal with questions and answers (Q&A) to a panel consisting of professionals of the area of investments and finance in Greece.

The CFA Institute is the global organization of professionals in the field of financial services and investments and at the same time awards the professional certification of CFA financial analysts (CFA charter). CFA Institute actively promotes its code of ethics and the application of a high level of scientific knowledge in financial analysis in global markets.
The Greek CFA Association (CFA Society Greece) is the officially recognized member of the CFA Institute in Greece. It is a non-profit association made of executives active in the field of investments and financial services. Its mission is to contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills of the professionals of the Greek Capital Market and to promote the highest level of professionalism, conscientiousness and integrity, in accordance with the code of ethics of the CFA Institute.
