The ceremony of declaring Professor Lakhmi Chand Jain, an Honorary Doctor of the Department of Informatics of the School of Information and Communication Technologies took place at the Athanasios Kanellopoulos Amphitheatre.

The Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michael Sfakianakis, initiated the ceremony with an address; followed by Professor George Tsixrintzis while the presentation of the awardee's work (Laudatio) was by the President of the Department of Informatics, Professor Maria Virvou.

In addition, it includes the ability of developing international collaborations and synergies in teaching and research, providing networking to the academic and professional community, facilitating their interaction.
Professor Lakhmi Chand Jain personifies this archetype in its most complete form inspiring us all because his impressive journey in the scientific arena is inextricably linked with a deep-rooted ethic that drives his scientific achievements for the benefit of society and humanity on the one hand and a multidimensional charity work on the other. Both implemented with an excess of modesty and humility.
Professor George Tsixrintzis in his greeting wished Professor Lakhmi Chand Jain long life, health, happiness and academic creativity and thanked him, for being a mentor to thousands of artificial intelligence researchers around the world. That including the professors of our University, as the fruitful collaboration between Professor Lakhmi Chand Jain and the faculty members, spans more than twenty uninterrupted years.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to excellence, innovation and the pursuit of innovative solutions to complex problems, and his visionary leadership has had a significant impact on the wider scientific community. The awarding ceremony ended with the speech of the honoree, who thanked the University and the Department for the highest honor bestowed upon him, which he accepted with deep appreciation and humility, considering it the greatest achievement of his life.
