On Wednesday, February 8, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the University of Piraeus, and the Department of Tourism Studies of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies, and the Association of Greek Tourist and Travel Agencies (HATTA) as well as the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Fedhatta).

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Prof. Michalis Sfakianakis, and the President of the Association of Tourist and Travel Agencies in Greece (HATTA), Nikolaos Kelaiditis, and the President of the Federation of Greek Travel and Tourism Agencies Associations (FedHATTA),. It has been decided to establish the cooperation of the University of Piraeus with HATTA and FedHATTA, in areas of common interest, which, among other things, concern the provision of research support, know-how, expertise and training in matters related to the statutory purposes of HATTA, the development of the country's Tourist and Travel Offices and individual sectors of tourism and tourism development

It is important that the research laboratory of the University of Piraeus "Tourism Excellence" will also be the research laboratory of the Hellenic Association of Tourist and Travel Agencies (HATTA), with the aim of co-creating applied research for the real economy of tourism, which is a main pillar of the national economy.
The Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michalis Sfakianakis, in his address, among others, expressed his joy, which results from the cooperation of the academic sector with the sector of the real economy, which is the backbone of Greek development. Greek tourism has a lot to offer based on the representation of Greek Mythology and Ancient Greek Writing, which has spread throughout the world. The development of this potential can turn Greece into a center of World Tourism. The University of Piraeus, with its many years of experience in Tourism, will contribute and cooperate in this partnership for the benefit of its parts, but above all of our country.
The event was graced by the presence of the Ministers of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias, Development & Investments Adonis - Spyridon Georgiadis and Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis, Giorgos Logiadis Member of Parliament and Dimitris Fragkakis Secretary General GNTO.
