The Conference took place within the framework of a three-day visit of a multi-member official German delegation to Piraeus, organized in collaboration with the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and with the support of the Ministries of Development & Investments and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of Greece.

With a large participation of representatives of ministries, agencies and businesses of Greece and Germany, the Conference was opened by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. I. Plakiotakis.
Greetings were addressed by the representative of the Maritime Economy Department of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany, Ariane Kiesow and the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Angelos Kotios, who emphasized that the University of Piraeus has the potential, develops the know-how, has the executives and attempts to be directly connected to entrepreneurship by developing synergies with agencies and Foundations so that the innovations developed in its academic spaces pass from theory to practice, from the classroom and the laboratory to the real economy and from today to the future.
