The Rector of UniPi Angelos Kotios and the Minister of Defense of Cyprus Charalambos Petridis signed a Memorandum for the promotion of education and lifelong learning, the use of new technologies, science and research to promote applications and the training of Armed Forces personnel Forces in Defense and Security, in Nicosia today.
According to Mr. Petridis, one of the goals of the Ministry is to cultivate a common European security and defense culture and to deepen the cooperation of the Member States of the EU in the Defense field. This will be achieved by creating a network with educational institutions and bodies dealing with the issues of Defense and Security and Crisis Management, through which the Defense and Foreign Policy of the country will be disseminated to the academic community and through international educational activities, in the international environment.
Collaborations such as this contribute, as Mr. Petridis stressed, to the achievement of this goal and aim to establish our country as a bridge between the countries of the wider Middle East and North Africa.
On his part, The Rector of UniPi Angelos Kotios noted that the signing of the memorandum with the Ministry of Defense opens important prospects for the development of joint actions in the fields of education and research on particularly important issues such as defense, security and international cooperation. "This new partnership comes to strengthen the broad network of partnerships we have developed in the wider Eastern Mediterranean, Africa and Asia. However, Cyprus has always had a special place in our hearts and we will work tirelessly to meet the expectations of our cooperation ".
