The University of Piraeus and the European Information Center of Piraeus, under the auspices of the Attica Region and with the support of the Attica Regional Development Fund,

organized the Conference, which analyzed the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), as well as the European Recovery Fund, in the context of " Conference on the Future of Europe" which is under the supervision of the three institutions of the EU, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
This Conference aims to give citizens a greater role in shaping the EU's policies and ambitions, in order to improve the Union's resilience in the face of various crises, such as economic or health-related ones. Its aim is to help strengthen public, open, transparent and structured inclusive consultation on the issues that matter to European citizens and affect their daily lives. under the supervision of the three institutions leading the effort, namely the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
An important feature of the conference was the detailed analysis that took place of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as the dialogue about it, between representatives of the National and European Parliaments, the elected officials of the Local Government and the representatives of all the productive bodies of the Regional Unity of Piraeus. A dialogue that highlighted the existence of a plan and preparation, for the use of institutional reforms and financial tools, through which the dual effort will be manifested: On the one hand, to deal effectively with the consequences of the pandemic, from the world of business, and on the other hand, to acquire fundamental characteristics of the necessary, collective effort, for the dynamic recovery of the Greek economy.
As the 1st Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Margaritis Schinas, who initiated the works of the Conference, pointed out, the specific, public, open, transparent and structured consultation, without exclusions, brings Greece and Europe closer to the supreme, common goal: To respond to the needs and perspectives that shape the new, global, highly competitive landscape, while also facing the very serious consequences of the pandemic.
An approach which was continued by the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor, Angelos Kotios, summarizing the conclusions of the Conference, underlining that all the productive entities of the Piraeus Regional Unit, with the catalytic contribution of UNIPI, will proceed successfully, with cooperation and a spirit of solidarity, on the path of the containment of losses, rebuilding the national economy, creating, maintaining and continuously increasing new jobs.
In detail, in the thematic sections of the Conference, organized by UNIPI, comprehensive presentations were made by: Prof. Angelos Kotios - Rector of Piraeus University, Margaritis Schinas - First Vice-President of the European Commission, Dionysia Avgerinopoulou - Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Eva Kaili - Member of the European Parliament, Georgios Patoulis - Regional Governor of Attica, Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis - Head, European Parliament, General Directorate of Communication, Liaison Office in Greece, Prof. Michalis Argyrou - Member of the Governing Committee of the Project, President of the SOE, Voutsinas Ioannis - President of the Professional Chamber of Piraeus, Korkidis Vassilios - President of Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Matthios Dimitris - President of the Association of Industries of Attica and Piraeus, Papamanolis -Dozas Georgios Piraeus Chamber of Commerce.
