A very interesting Conference was held by the University of Piraeus in collaboration with the Center for Renewable Sources and Energy Saving (CRES) in the Melina Merkouri Hall of the Peace and Friendship Stadium, on the subject of Energy Decarbonisation and Renewable energy sources.

The Conference was attended by renowned academics and scientists, representatives of the State and the business world.
The finding that there is a deficit of global and European governance in the energy issue has been clear from the beginning. While energy sufficiency is of major importance for maintaining the orderliness of markets and the supply of goods, while the technology exists, the expertise exists, the knowledge and potential exist for the carbom de-dependence of Europe and Greece, modern European management is incomplete, shifting the responsibility to the Member States.

The new political conditions with the war in Ukraine demonstrated in the worst way what energy dependence and the absence of a central long-term policy on the subject of Renewable Energy Sources means.

For many years, the technology has existed for the development of different RES, ranging from solar thermal, wind, geothermal and even biogas/biomethane, which, despite the fact that its production is currently very low, has huge possibilities and the studies rank Greece quite high. At the conference, an extensive reference was made to smart networks and their contribution to energy independence, while successful case studies such as that of Ai Stratis were presented, demonstrating the potential of our country.

From the business side, the problems and distortions that exist in the Greek region and prevent the effectiveness and efficiency of investments were discussed. Greece's potential is huge and the problems are well known but there seems to be insufficient planning in many cases.
International conditions brought the next energy day and the countries of Europe were not ready.ΠΑΠΕΙ ΚΑΠΕ3
