At the annual conference held in Thessaloniki for the 88th International Exhibition, by the Union οf Hellenic Chambers οf Commerce (UHCC), Professor Michael Sfakianakis, the rector of the University of Piraeus, was awarded for his contribution, as President of the Central Supervisory Board of the General Commercial Register (G.E.MI) - period 2010 - 2016, in the modernization of businesses through the establishment of the One Stop Services (e-OSS) and the information system of G.E.MI.

With e-OSS, the time and cost of establishing a business was decisively reduced and G.E.MI became a catalyst for the modernization of Greek businesses, with the result that in 2020 Greece occupied the first place in Europe in the Doing Business Report 2020 (Starting a Business) and the eleventh in the world.
Professor Michail Sfakianakis thanked the Union οf Hellenic Chambers οf Commerce with which he worked closely and the presidents of the local Chambers saying that Greece can move forward when we make positive intersections.
The rector of the University of Piraeus dedicated his award to the entrepreneurs of today, who are the main lever of the development of national economy, many of whom have been his students, and to the students of the University who will be the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, as the hope of the country is in Greek business.
