On Wednesday, December 11th, 2019, the President and Managing Director of MYTILINEOS, Mr. Evangelos G. Mytilineos, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Department of Business Administration, University of Piraeus, at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus.
Accepting his nomination in a highly charged speech, he spoke about the emotion, joy and pride he felt for the extraordinary honor, for the importance of his family, he described the environment in which entrepreneurship and the country are moving today and the challenges they face, the future after the crisis and his vision for a competitive Greece, truly equal within Europe.
During his address, the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Angelos Kotios, emphasized that the University is honoring a self-made Piraeus businessman, who works tirelessly for the realization of his visions, inspired by the principles of modern management. 
The Dean of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies, Professor Michael Sfakianakis, noted that the title of honorary doctorate is the highest honor awarded by the university to an outstanding business personality.
The Laudatio of the honoree was presented by the Chair of the Department of Business Administration, Professor Athanasios Kouremenos.
Present at the ceremony were, among others, the former Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos, the former Ministers Gikas Hardouvelis and Yiannis Maniatis, the former President of SEV Dimitris Daskalopoulos, businessmen and members of the academic community.
