The University of Piraeus practices academic internationalization, cooperation and friendship with dozens of universities from all over the world. The city of the great port of Piraeus opened its arms and welcomed our friends from 61 Universities from all continents in a unique event of UNIPI, which makes us all proud. 

"The new era of digitalisation, European neighbourhood, diversity and inclusion" will be discussed in meetings and round tables with guests and experts from the European Commission, the IKY, CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions), the Local Government, Academic staff of the University of Piraeus. Representatives of the cooperating Universities within the Erasmus+ program Piraeus University Group include the National Technical University of Athens, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, University of Crete, Democritus University of Thrace, University of Macedonia and Harokopio University of Athens. Last but not least the collaborating organizations Organization Earth, YouthMakers Hub, Professional Chamber of Athens and the Regional Development Agency of West Macedonia.Makers Hub,Professional Chamber of Athens and the Regional Development Agency of West Macedonia.

 The Rector Prof Angelos Kotios, the Dean of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies Prof Michael Sfakianakis and the Vice-Rector Prof Pantelis Pantelidis greeted and welcomed the Participants, with special mention to the incredibly creative pillar of international relations of the University Dr Christina Kontogoulidou and her colleagues of the International Relations office.
They were followed by Deputy Mayor of Municipality of Piraeus Mrs. Aligizaki Aspasia, and Mr Filippos Koumpounis from the Hellenic National Agency who gave us a great presentation concerning the Erasmus+ opportunities. Mrs Edith Genser from European Commission zoom called and analysed the Jean Monnet projects.

The first day agenda was intercultural meetings and networking while the presentation of each University created a fruitful ground for new and extended cooperations, followed by an interesting Round Table with Prof Fani Sakellariadou and the Executive Secretary of CPMR Mr Stavros Kalognomos concerning the Sustainable Blue Economy which created a lively discussion between the participants.
Prof Ilias Maglogiannis , the Head of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus showed us through his enthusiastic presentation apps and information concerning the Digital approach to health issues.
We concluded our day with an informative presentation from the International Red Cross and Mrs Alexandra Soumala, the Representative of ESN Greece. She presented the actions of ESN and had an interactive conversation with two of our Erasmus Incoming Students, Can Songul from Austria and Alaa Tahraoui from University of Tlemcen in Algeria as well one of our Outgoing Students Ms Dritsa Eugenia.
We will continue tomorrow our intercultural staff week with participation of more of our partners and guests.
