The University of Piraeus, a place of uninterrupted educational and research activity, welcomed with events the celebration of the 80th anniversary of its establishment.
The establishment of the - then - School of Industrial Studies was an initiative of the Association of Greek Industrialists and Craftsmen (S.E.V.B.) and the Association of Limited Companies of Greece (S.A.E.E.). It was November 18, 1938 when the first scientific lectures were heard in the classrooms of the School of Industrial Studies which was temporarily housed at 239 Pesmazoglou Street in Athens. The relevant Royal Decree of establishment states: "The purpose of the School is, through regular courses and lectures, the special further education of the executives of Industry, Craft and related productive branches, by providing them with a more general economic, legal and technical education and the elevation of the general their professional ability".
During the 80th anniversary of its operation, the academic community of the University of Piraeus has organized a series of events in order to record and present the work that has been done, to honor all those who contributed to the development of the Foundation, to bring back to the University alumni, to come into contact with the economy and chart its future course.
