As part of a significant initiative to promote equality and inclusion in the workplace, the University of Piraeus has taken on a pivotal role in the national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs.

Through its Management Laboratory and under the supervision of the University’s Rector, Professor Michail Sfakianakis, the University undertook the scientific evaluation of the educational material used in the new three-hour training program. “Our primary goal was to ensure that the material is scientifically sound, pedagogically appropriate, and fully aligned with the principles of inclusion,” stated the Rector of the University of Piraeus.

The evaluation process involved a detailed review of the material’s pedagogical structure, the clarity and practicality of the examples, universal accessibility for all users, and the scientifically substantiated dismantling of stereotypes and biases.

Following the evaluation, the material was uploaded to an educational platform and is already being used by thousands of employees in businesses across the country. The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Ms. Domna Michailidou, publicly expressed her satisfaction: “The contribution of the academic community is crucial. I sincerely thank the University of Piraeus for its support and the seriousness with which this socially critical issue was addressed.”

The program’s success has been remarkable: 95,000 registrations and 50,000 completed applications in just a few days demonstrate both the demand for and the impact of this initiative in the labor market.

The University of Piraeus once again affirms its social and educational mission, actively promoting the values of equality, social justice, and excellence.
