University of Piraeus launches the Strategic Development, Internationalization and Outreach Committee

The University of Piraeus has launched the Strategic Development, Internationalization and Outreach Committee, reinforcing its long-term vision for academic excellence, international engagement and stronger connections with the business and social sectors in Greece and abroad.

The University created the Committee to support the work of the Senate and the Board of Administration in shaping strategic priorities that strengthen international outreach, institutional networking and the global profile of the Institution. Through its work, the Committee will promote the academic, research and social contribution of the University of Piraeus on the international stage.
The Committee will develop proposals for the academic growth and institutional advancement of the University, encourage collaborations with leading universities and organizations in Greece and internationally, and support initiatives that enhance skills development and graduates’ professional prospects. It will also contribute to the expansion of innovative academic programs that respond to the evolving demands of the global labour market while cultivating entrepreneurship, excellence and personal development among students.
Professor Michael Sfakianakis, Rector of the University of Piraeus, chairs the Committee. The University appointed distinguished figures from academia, business and public life in Greece and abroad as members of the body. The Committee includes Kostis Daskalakis, Avanessians Professor of Computer Science, EECS and CSAIL at MIT and Honorary Professor of the University of Piraeus; Athanasios Martinos, President of EASTMED and Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus; Christos Megalou, CEO of PIREOS and Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus; Evangelos Mytilineos, CEO of METLEN ENERGY & METALS and Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus; Achilleas Constantakopoulos, President of ENSOFI and Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus; and Antonis Papadimitriou, President of the Onassis Foundation and Honorary Doctor of the University of Piraeus.
Commenting on the initiative, Professor Michael Sfakianakis described the establishment of the Committee as an important milestone for the future direction of the University. He emphasized that the Institution aims to build an innovative, outward-looking and internationally competitive university that equips its graduates with strong opportunities for professional advancement in a rapidly changing global environment.
The Senate and the Board of Administration approved the establishment of the Committee unanimously. The Committee will serve a four-year term with the possibility of renewal and will submit regular reports on strategic priorities, supporting the continuous development and international strengthening of the University of Piraeus.commitee eng
