A new era of collaboration between academia and the technology sector began on November 11th, 2025, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Piraeus and Google Greece.
The agreement aims to advance digital skills and education in Artificial Intelligence (AI), strengthening digital transformation in education, business, and society.
The MoU was signed by Professor Michail Sfakianakis, Rector of the University of Piraeus, and Peggy Antonakou, Regional General Manager of Google for Southeastern Europe, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership that brings together knowledge and technology.
The agreement provides for the joint implementation of educational actions and training programs, with full respect for the protection of personal data, intellectual property rights, and legislation on transparency and anti-corruption.
Within the framework of this collaboration, 90-minute training programs — offered both in person and online — will be available to students, academic staff, and administrative personnel of the University. The seminars will cover a wide range of topics related to Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation.
