In an atmosphere of deep emotion and pride, the “Academic Excellence Awards” Ceremony was held on Wednesday, 12 February 2026, at the Amphitheatre of the University of Piraeus. Organized for the third consecutive year, the event has now been firmly established as an institutional tradition, highlighting the University’s commitment to promoting academic excellence.

The ceremony honoured top-performing graduates from all cycles of study, as well as researchers distinguished for their outstanding academic achievements. In a particularly symbolic moment, the Rector of the University, Professor Michail E. Sfakianakis, presented honorary plaques to retired Professors in recognition of their long-standing and substantial contribution to education, research, and the academic development of the University.
In his address, the Rector warmly thanked the honoured Professors for their enduring contribution to the Institution and congratulated the award-winning graduates and their families for the decisive support provided throughout their academic journey. He emphasized that excellence constitutes a core value of the University of Piraeus and serves as a multiplier of progress, benefiting both the graduates themselves and society as a whole.
