The ceremony honoured top-performing graduates from all cycles of study, as well as researchers distinguished for their outstanding academic achievements. In a particularly symbolic moment, the Rector of the University, Professor Michail E. Sfakianakis, presented honorary plaques to retired Professors in recognition of their long-standing and substantial contribution to education, research, and the academic development of the University.
In his address, the Rector warmly thanked the honoured Professors for their enduring contribution to the Institution and congratulated the award-winning graduates and their families for the decisive support provided throughout their academic journey. He emphasized that excellence constitutes a core value of the University of Piraeus and serves as a multiplier of progress, benefiting both the graduates themselves and society as a whole.
Addressing the audience, Professor Dimosthenis Kyriazis, Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning, stressed that the distinction, while recognizing past achievement, also propels the awardees forward in their professional and academic paths.
The presentation of the Academic Excellence Awards reaffirms the University’s steadfast commitment to supporting excellence. As previously noted the awards recognize the highest academic performance among students of all study cycles and researchers and are accompanied by a monetary prize.

The event brought together members of the University’s Governing Council, Vice Rectors, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty members, as well as parents, relatives, and friends of the honourees, in a celebratory atmosphere marked by recognition and pride.
