With an impressive presence, the University of Piraeus inaugurated its pavilion at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair on Sunday, September 7, 2025, attracting the interest of numerous visitors and stakeholders.
The opening ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, who referred both to the strategic importance of Greek universities for development and innovation, and to her personal connection with the University of Piraeus, as she is a graduate of one of its postgraduate programs.
For his part, the Rector of the University, Professor Michail E. Sfakianakis, emphasized that participation in the TIF constitutes a milestone of extroversion for the Institution, underlining its steady orientation toward research, education, and its linkage with society and the labor market. Particularly noteworthy was the presentation of the first joint postgraduate program between an American and a European university in Applied Artificial Intelligence (Global Applied AI), in collaboration with Purdue University.
The event at Pavilion 17 – Stand 40 brought together academics, students, as well as representatives of institutions and organizations, creating an atmosphere of keen interest.
This year, the University of Piraeus’ pavilion hosts initiatives that showcase the Institution’s multifaceted work in education, innovation, and research, its international partnerships, and its strong ties with society and the business community. In this way, the University reaffirms its leading role in the country’s development and innovation.
